Since the 50’s, we massively use plastic products and canned products in our kitchen. For several years, silicone products get more and more space in our kitchens. Sometimes we are unaware that some of these products are dangerous to our health when we use them with our food and drinks.
What is BPA? BPA is a short name to Bisphenol-A. It is an estrogen chemical in common use during production of reusable plastic, cans and silicone products.
Why isn’t it safe? The industrial Bisphenol-A estrogen can cause consumption of chemicals that are similar to hormones (estrogen is the female hormone). Studies showed that BPA has potential effects on our health and it is most dangerous to children and babies. Studies also find a relation between the use of BPA products toward different illnesses such as obesity, higher rates of cancer and problems in the reproductive systems of both men and women.
The American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) doesn’t forbid the use of BPA in plastic, cans and silicone in certain products, it does forbid to produce children’s products such as baby bottles, toddler sippy cups and infant formula packaging.
One of the ways to avoid the consumption of BPA is to make sure your food and drinks are not coming into contact with cups, glasses, bottles or food packaging that are not BPA free.
We highly recommend to buy only BPA free products, if it’s plastic or silicone glasses, cups, bottles and boxes for storing food in the refrigerator. Also, we recommend that you will not use any plastics or silicone while heating food and liquids in the microwave.
All Siliclass products are BPA FREE!!!
